Over the years, bathroom and kitchen faucets have evolved and changed. Today, they are an important part of every household. While their impact on style may seem small, they can greatly affect the overall style of the kitchen or bathroom.
Kitchen and bathroom faucets can be used for 15 to 20 years. The lifespan of a faucet mainly depends on the quality of its construction and the quality of the water. Proper maintenance can extend the life of a faucet. Ongoing repair work may mean that replacement is needed. Faucets now include design and functionality that often means the faucet is replaced before it needs to be replaced. Faucets can encounter many issues. The most common is leaking, but many people do not pay attention to this issue. Each part of the faucet is interrelated. So, how can you tell when the faucet valve cartridge needs to be replaced?
The main function of the filter element is to mix hot and cold water flow and control its supply intensity and ensure uninterrupted operation of sanitary equipment. Water with scale will cause greater damage to the pipes. Mineral deposits accumulate around drainage pipes, faucets and various joints and cause damage to them, necessitating the renovation of many water devices and filter elements.
You can determine whether the faucet valve cartridge is damaged by checking whether water is dripping from the faucet. When the faucet is broken, it is difficult to change the temperature of the water, and cold water may enter the hot water outlet. If the water splashes under the nut, handle, or valve, the filter element is actually damaged. In these cases, the lever is unlikely to move normally; most of them will eventually be stuck in an unwelcome position. Another sign is that the stream is not strong enough when the system water pressure is normal.
Anyone who is capable can solve this problem. First, make sure to shut off the water supply and block the drain to prevent smaller parts from flowing out of the drain. Use a screwdriver to remove the cover from the top of the faucet. You will find a screw under the cover that secures the faucet in place. Loosen the screw and remove all quick-release components.
Beneath the outlet is a cylindrical faucet with two O-rings around it. If you find a leak around the nozzle, you should also replace the rings. Whenever you shut off, you need to look at the top of the faucet valve cartridge. Use pliers to pull out the filter element and inspect it. If it is smooth, the problem is with the ring. If the filter element is damaged or clogged, it needs to be replaced. Take out the new filter element and slide it into the faucet body. Reassemble the faucet. Turn on the water and test the water flow.
